Why Is Soaking Dentures Important?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If your dentures dry out, they could lose their shape,\nresulting in them feeling uncomfortable and\/or looking unnatural. Therefore,\nthey must be kept moist at all times. When they\u2019re in your mouth, this is done\nnaturally through your saliva. However, when you take them out to sleep, they\nmust be placed in a container of liquid, usually water or denture cleaner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One thing to keep in mind is that the water or solution you\nplace them in must be lukewarm at most. Hot water could warp the plastic and\nchange the shape of your dentures. It\u2019s best to keep them in slightly cold water.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your dentures have metal attachments, like if they\u2019re\nanchored onto dental implants, you might not want to place them in water, as\nthat could tarnish the metal. In this situation, ask your dentist how to best\nclean your dentures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
